To our fellow explorers, storytellers, and readers: Pilgrim Magazine is taking a pause to evolve — a sabbatical of sorts to refocus. We look forward to resurfacing with intention, direction, and bounties of rich stories. In the meantime, we hope you'll peruse our archives and stay in touch viaInstagram.

FIELD GUIDES

We believe in taking a magnifying-glass approach to the places we find ourselves, truly immersing ourselves into a place. By talking to its people, taking our time, commanding our senses—we can truly begin to see a place for what it is, and who its people are. Our Field Guides are deep dives into places, be it a single town, the boundaries of a grand roadtrip, or an entire country. In some Field Guides, we may examine a place’s people. In others, we may tell you where (and what) to eat, where to lay your head at night, where to find mischief, which backroads to detour to, and who to say hello to along the way. Whichever direction a story may take, know that these are our authentic and honest perspectives stemming from an experience we’ve had and immensely enjoyed.

FROM OUR FOUNDER

With journeys across four continents, six countries, and all over the U.S., last year was as rich with miles as it was lessons for Ashley. From a writing workshop in the island paradise of Zanzibar to one wildly impactful ancient ceremony in Colombia to a weeks-long journey through Andalusian villages and along Portugal’s coast, she collected countless pearls of wisdom along with instant-print photos and seashells—and she’s eager to share her discoveries with you in her 2018 Field Guide and interactive map.

FROM OUR EDITOR

From Southeast Asia to various corners of Australia, Hayli’s travels took her all over the world last year—and her journeys were as purposeful as they were whimsical. In her 2018 Field Guide and interactive map, she’s curated some of her favorite cultural and sensory delights from her travels. And her intention for 2019 is to continue fostering her connection to the regions she already loves while broadening her horizons to find even more treasures to share with the Pilgrim community.
